1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Snail Addin (the “Add-in”) collects, uses, stores, and protects your information when you purchase, install, and use it. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 License Activation Data

When you activate the Add-in, we collect:

  • Machine Code: generated by hashing your disk serial number, CPU ID, and motherboard serial number via SHA-256. Used to bind the license to your device.
  • License Key: the key you receive after purchase.
  • Activation Timestamp: when the license is first activated.

2.2 Account & Purchase Data

When you purchase via Waffo, we receive:

  • Email address: to send you your License Key and purchase receipt;
  • Order ID: to link your license with your purchase for support;
  • Payment status: we only record whether the transaction succeeded. We do not store your card number, CVV, or full payment details.

2.3 Anonymous Usage Statistics (Free Edition)

Free edition users have anonymous telemetry enabled by default to help improve the product. We collect:

  • Machine Code Hash (salted SHA-256, irreversible);
  • Add-in version;
  • SolidWorks version;
  • Operating system version;
  • System language;
  • First and last report timestamps.

This telemetry does NOT include your email, username, file contents, export history, IP address, or any personally identifiable information.

You can disable telemetry at any time in the Like me window of the Add-in.

2.4 Server Logs

For service stability and security, our servers temporarily log:

  • API call timestamps;
  • IP address (only for abuse prevention, not for tracking individuals);
  • Request type and response status.

3. How We Use Information

We use collected information only to:

  • Verify licenses, bind devices, and renew subscriptions;
  • Send you License Keys and purchase receipts;
  • Prevent piracy and abuse;
  • Improve product features and user experience;
  • Comply with legal and tax obligations.

4. What We Do NOT Do

We do NOT:

  • Sell, rent, or trade your personal information;
  • Use your information for advertising;
  • Read your model files, drawings, or other work content;
  • Track your usage habits for commercial purposes;
  • Share your information with third parties, except as required to process payments (Waffo) or by law.

5. Third-Party Services

5.1 Waffo (Payment Processing)

Your payment is processed by Waffo as the Merchant of Record. Waffo handles your payment information according to its own privacy policy. We only receive the minimum information required (email, order ID, payment status).

5.2 SMTP Email Service

We use a third-party SMTP service to send License Key emails. Your email address is temporarily transmitted to this service for the sole purpose of sending the email and is not used for any other purpose.

6. Data Storage & Security

6.1 Your license information is stored on our encrypted servers and in a local license.dat file on your device.

6.2 We use industry-standard HTTPS encryption and RSA-signed license tickets to prevent tampering.

6.3 We retain your data only as long as necessary to provide our services. After license expiration, we may retain related records for up to 30 days for support and legal compliance, after which they will be periodically cleaned up.

6.4 While we take reasonable technical measures to protect your data, no internet transmission can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Please keep your License Key safe.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: know what information we hold about you;
  • Correct: request correction of inaccurate information;
  • Delete: request deletion of your personal information (may affect license service);
  • Disable Telemetry: turn off anonymous statistics at any time in the Add-in settings.

8. Children’s Privacy

The Add-in is intended for professional users and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Add-in constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
